i think that pretty much says it all.

another videoteleconference had the inestimable privilege of watching me chow down on a burrito and chips. if only they had known they were witnessing my 99th burrito since January 1, 2004, perhaps the resulting vomit and other illnesses would have been avoided.

in the meantime, one of my friends' blogs has a photograph on it. i have to figure out how to post pictures on here...

today's burrito was takeout -- lunch meeting. luckily, it was videoteleconferenced; but still, it probably wasn't the best of VTC choices. i mean, who wants to see me wolfing down a burrito and chips, even from thousands of miles away?

from a loyal Burritoman fan:

I want you to read this book, O Burritoman:

Like all of the Frances the Badger books, this one was a favorite of mine as a child. It is about a little badger who will eat nothing but bread and jam for every meal. At first, it's sort of endearing. But then her fixation borders on annoyance until it almost appears to be obsession. She drives her mother insane, her friends begin to ignore her at lunch time, she does nothing but prattle on and on about bread and jam, bread and jam, BREAD AND JAM!!!! In the climax of the story, tired of the nutritional wasteland she has exiled herself to, she ends up having a tearful breakdown at the dinner table. Don't let this happen to you, BM. Heed the warning that Russell and Lillain Hoban send -- "A varied diet is not only good for your body, but good for your soul...."

That is all.

August 14: 1/2 chicken, 1/2 steak, extra rice, hot salsa, chips (College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas)

ate with Jerrod W. and Matt W. today. we're at work, punching out a summary judgment brief. would rather be at home but their company didn't hurt. plus, Matt W. bought lunch, and we all know the best burritos are free.

in the meantime, i received a nice e-mail message from a loyal Burritoman reader who was impressed by my use of the term "perfidy." it's quite the fifty-cent word... i'll have to use more in the future.

August 12: 1/2 chicken, 1/2 steak, extra rice, hot salsa, chips (75th & Wornall, Kansas City, Missouri)

there are some burritos i will never forget. this was one of them.

in any event, today's post will address Heidi S.'s treachery when it comes to burritos. she comes to my office, asks me what i'm doing for lunch, i tell her, she asks if i'm sending out an e-mail, i say i am, she asks whether we can go somewhere else, i say i need to get another burrito in this week, and she says ok.

then i get an e-mail: "For those who are burrito-ed out, Chelsi, Heidi and I are going to Nordstrom's Cafe for lunch. Still 12:30, just a different place."

Heidi's only excuse? "I reluctantly said ok. Then sought out a better plan. It's the tomato-cream soup, man, I can't help it!"

Heidi S.: perfidy such as this will not be tolerated.

Eric M. and Chelsi H.: don't think i'll forget your role in this, either. vengeance shall be mine. oh yes, it shall.

August 9: 1/2 chicken, 1/2 steak, extra rice, hot salsa, chips (College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas)

the wonderful weather continues unabated. Eric M., Jerrod W., Heidi S., and Chelsi H. gave me the usual ribbing today about all sorts of topics, including whether this blog isn't just a little too polite to really be me.

in the meantime, this particular burrito -- although good on the way down -- caused me no end of misery last night. i thought i was going to die. it was like that movie "Alien" -- i figured it wasn't too long until the burrito was going to burst through my stomach and kill me.

gotta love someone who compares their child to a Chipotle burrito.

i'm not going to say anything about this article. it's political and i don't want to offend the audience; but i think it's worth a read.

maybe i'm overreacting, but something tells me attacking Jewish students at Auschwitz is probably a great way to get a first-class ticket to hell.

for those of you who have never seen the Ali G show (formerly a British TV show, now on HBO, i believe), it's good stuff. click here to read this as if Ali G had written it.

August 6: 1/2 chicken, 1/2 steak, extra rice, hot salsa (College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas)

absolutely gorgeous today. we walked over, sat outside, had some Starbucks on the way home (ok, Jerrod W. and Matt W. drank the coffee -- i just had a scone). Dave R. drove over to meet us, which was kinda funny. good guys, all. burrito was of the highest quality.

August 5: 1/2 chicken, 1/2 steak, extra rice, hot salsa (College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas)

where, o where do i begin? first of all, let me say that i wish i had more hot salsa on my burrito today. it would have helped spice up the rice, which was a little dry. but for the most part, i was pretty pleased with the overall burrito experience today.

next, the Slow Cashier was back today.... quite a delay in getting my burrito.

also, burritoman fan Matt W. is a doubting Thomas about my ability to achieve my 150 burrito goal... he's predicting at least four double-burrito days to make up for certain time away from Chipotle. we shall see.

and last but not least, Jerrod W. managed to dump quite a volume of his burrito into his shirt pocket. he didn't get it out in time and some of the grease and juice showed through his pocket. he was annoyed, but i thought it was kind of funny, in a cruel, mean-spirited sort of way. plus, later, when i finished a bite or two ahead of him, i got to say, "hey Jerrod, just put the rest of the burrito in your pocket and let's get out of here."

first of all, many congratulations to the arena supporters. Burritoman reader Vince G. was a very vocal activist in favor of the new Kansas City arena project. good job, Vince -- your work can only have helped get this passed.

had today's burrito with Heidi S. the steak today was about as juicy as it has ever been. i'm serious, it was spectacular. the chips could have used a little more salt, but they were acceptable.

the cashier today was pretty slow. there was quite a line waiting for the burritos...

had to take today's back to the office... it's too darn hot to be out if you don't have to be.

i'm sure he's not reading this today -- too many other things going on -- but i know Andy I., Burritoman's college roommate and one of his best friends in the world, could use your thoughts and prayers. his son, Max, was born last week, which is great, but he was born 5 weeks early, which isn't the way he would have preferred to meet Max. Andy: congratulations on Max. i know he's early by 4 weeks and still in the hospital, but everything you've told me indicates that he's doing great. home by Friday? that's great news. and i'm glad Sarah is doing well, too. hang in there.
